peanut factory

-went for a short drive and stopped at a place where a few people were drying thousands of peanuts on tarps. i never realized that peanuts HAD to be dried out. i took a few handfulls, but they weren't quite in the "ready" stage, so they were a little soft/stale tasting. neat to learn about peanuts, though.
-got an e-mail from our supervisor in canada, who told us that we will not be hosting a group of canadian interns in november/december as we had been planning. which means that crystal and i have to make up 6 weeks of new programs within the next month. yikes. it's kind of a relief, though. with the canadians, we'd have to be going out to villages quite often, and i am already dying from all the bug bites i'm getting.
-one of the mangy dogs around here had puppies a few nights ago. she had them under the step of one of the boys' outhouses. the british girl who works here keeps tending to them, and is really excited because she is going to make one her own. i cite my allergies as the reason i stay away from them, but mostly i just think they're ugly and dumb.
-i ate my first guava ever. the seeds are so hard! not something i will be doing regularly.
-i went to shower a few days ago, and as i pulled the tarp to "close" the shower, i saw a tiny frog nestled in the folds. i made it go onto my fingertip, and looked at it a bit, then put it on the ledge of the shower so i wouldn't crush it in the tarp. we watched each other during my shower, and then when i was done, i was studying it and wondering if it would still be there if i ran to get my camera. while i was staring at it, lost in thought, it JUMPED RIGHT AT MY FACE! yikes! i screamed a little and jumped back. it hit my cheek and fell all the way to the ground. my heart was racing and adrenaline was pumping.

Sweetie:

You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince. Sounds to me as though you just blew your chance.

(Nerd, indeed!! Harumphs of indignation are emitted.)

Bring on the apostrophe apocalypse!

Love ya--

haha! I totally understand, I had a similar experience with a little gecko here this week (I have no idea what the Bangla name for them are but I call them geckos)...but it was nicely watching me during my shower and I was contemplating it and then it ran at me, jumped off the wall and landed on my foot...I was less than graceful in my reaction to it as well! haha

I'm glad you are well friend,
