kelsey and i have been planning our end-of-summer trip to adventure city west coast (aka rural washington state), and, for various and sundry reasons, have been thinking about our high school selves. didn't know us before 2001? here's what you missed: christian ska bands, yearbook camps, students' union camps, badminton, soccer (for me)/hockey (for her), aisha,
"hello my future girlfriend", "the office", working at a&w with the Jehovah's Witnesses, the dayz wage message board, "i'm too cute to do onions", pickle porn, silkscreening in cts, gordo's shorts in cts (he'd wear the same pair EVERY DAY for two weeks, and then finally change into a new pair to wear for 2 weeks), YC, weekends in st. albert, mall-ratting at west ed, jug playing "adam's song" for 8 hours straight at a&w, youth group, cutting up our shirt sleeves in cts and safety pinning them back together (we took a lot of cts classes - they were the only ones we could take together because she's a year younger than me), the vermilion fair, the flying penguins/cottoncandy/rabbits at lloyd fair, mating coils, being jerks with oren and colin, dancing at vermilion fair/andrea's grad/church, the best new year's ever playing survivor all night at the church... what am i forgetting? she's the best. i can't wait for the summer.
in the meantime, i am waiting to hear back from the museum if they will re-hire me this summer. meghan and i are really counting on being able to work there, and if they don't hire us, i think we will just have to live in joussard and bum around/longboard/go to the beach every day. like living in california. only, far up north. more bears, less lindsay lohan. i am nervous because even though they told me i should re-apply and that i did a good job last year, places seem to have a tendency to tell me i did a good job and then not re-hire me. eff. i am totally effed if i don't get this job. totally effed meaning mildly inconvenienced by having to find another job in the three weeks between when i get back home and may, when i want to start working. ugh. i hate job searches. plus, i like it up north. i like living with my adopted kookum; walking in the boreal forest; crying at aquasizes; running up a $300 long distance phone bill; hanging out at the lake with megs; eating steak in high prairie; having multigrain bannock and vanilla earl grey tea every monday while watching old movies borrowed from the library; going to the high prairie stampede; crushing on the construction boys; going to powwows; going to family functions with lee and actually being treated like part of the family; setting up the tipis; learning about alberta history; the prairies and the endless sky; getting to know people in the area; having time alone to make crafts; meeting friendly injuns who offer to let me use their white cards to buy gas...

You two aren't the only ones really counting on being able to work there... AFL (officially) just dropped me like a hot frying pan, (thanks for the head's up at Xmas by the way) so I need a job too!
FYI - the museum called me yesterday about an interview so my guess is that you'll likely hear soon. (Here's hoping that all three of us will get jobs there) :)
yeah, megs and i heard from human resources yesterday, and the lady said she didn't think she'd need to interview the two of us because we worked there last year. so that's good, i think. and quite honestly, last year they had a hard time trying to fill 4 positions, and this year they have 6 to fill, so i think they might take whatever they can get. but i think we're all pretty good quality as far as "whatever they can get" is concerned.
sorry about AFL. i know how it is. heartbreaking.
anyway, megs and i are planning on having the best summer of our lives: hiking at marten mountain, weekends at the beach, camping, powwows, high prairie stampede... it will be exciting if all three of us work there. and hopefully three hot native boys. perfect summer.
